Organics It's Worth It

 

The Organic Trade Association announced their new website, www.organicsitsworthit.org, which focuses on organic news, agriculture and products. 

 

This site makes it possible for consumers to make a connection with the people and places that are involved with organic production and what makes organics worth it.

Sustainable Agriculture

 

Sustainable agriculture takes many forms, but at its core is a rejections of the industrial approach to food production developed during the 20th century.

 

This system, with its reliance on monoculture, mechanization, chemical pesticides and fertilizers, biotechnology, and government subsidies, has made food abundant and affordable. Sustainable Packaging Metrics Released

 

Non-profit sustainability institute GreenBlue, through the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, has released "Sustainable Packaging Indicators and Metrics Framework "Version 1.0" designed to help companies measure their progress toward creating sustainable packaging.

 

The indicators and metrics are divided into eight categories: material use, water use, material health, clean production and transport, cost and performance, community impact and worker impact.
